During a weekend of rescues and following the tragic Saturday afternoon when three people died due to waves in Tenerife, three more people were rescued in La Palma yesterday. The victims were holding onto a buoy in the area of Playa de Bajamar, within the municipality of Breña Alta. Emergency services rescued three people, two women and one man, during the central hours of Sunday in a rescue operation involving several bodies. The man was unharmed. The Port Police, Civil Guard, National Police, and Civil Protection intervened in the deployed emergency device. A vessel from the Salvamento Marítimo rescued the two women, while La Palma firefighters rescued the man. Among the victims is an 86-year-old woman with hypothermia and a moderate shoulder injury, and a 51-year-old woman who also suffered moderate hypothermia. Both women were transferred by ambulance to the General Hospital of La Palma.
